Who We Are
Walker Memorial Church of God is located in Princess Anne, just south of Salisbury, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. When you walk in you'll probably notice that Walker is built around a "come as you are" mindset. There are no perfect people here. We are all human. We are flawed people doing our best to get to know a perfect God. Knowing and accepting these truths allow us to take off our masks and be real. We don't have to pretend we have it all together. We don't have to pretend that there are no problems. So- if you're coming to check us out for the first time- relax, be yourself- we know you're not perfect, and neither are we. We are multi-cultural and multi-generational community of faith.
As a community of faith we want our actions and activities to be purposeful. It is too easy to become busy with religious activities and forget God in the process. We want to learn how to love God, others, and ourselves in the way He intended.
It is our mission to be R.E.A.L. to our friends, neighbors, and community.
R- Reaching beyond our boundaries to those in need.
E- Equipping believers to model the Christ-like life.
A- Acknowledging God's worthship through worship.
L- Leading others into an intimate fellowship with God.
It is our purpose to introduce our city, community, and surrounding area to a growing relationship with Jesus through gathering, community, service, and missions.
Gathering (Loving God)- our weekly gatherings are where we come together to worship, learn, and encourage one another.
Community (Loving Others)- we strongly encourage people to move to a deeper level, by getting plugged in to a Life Group. Much smaller than our Gatherings, these groups come together for Bible study, to get to know one another, to help each other, and do life together.
Service (Serving our City and Community)- we pray that you are inspired to go and serve in some capacity both in the church and outside the four walls of the building. There are a number of service projects and outreaches going on throughout the month. Find one and get involved.
Missions (Helping Social Injustice)- taking service to another level, we reach out as much as possible to help cure social injustice in our world. We sponsor children, assist in relief efforts, send teams around the country and world to minister to the forgotten, and support the Church of God Youth & World Evangelism efforts. In these and other ways we are taking our ample resources and sharing with those who don't have what they need.
